Visa support and Registration

The International Department can provide documents necessary for receiving Visas and local Registration (for non-Russian citizens).

Every student who is not a citizen of the Russian Federation must have a visa to study in Russia. International Department can provide students with an official invitation.

* If a student is a citizen of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belorussia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyztan, Moldavia, Uzbekistan, Ukraine s/he can visit Russia without a visa. Nevertheless the student must request that the International Department registers the visa at the place where s/he studies.

The student, if not a citizen of Russia, has a right to enter a university (or a high school) when s/he has a visiting or tourist visa. After entering a high school, an institute or a university the student must get a STUDENT VISA (FOR THE PERIOD OF STUDY). S/he also has to give the International Department all the documents necessary for registration at the Registration Department ON THE VERY NEXT DAY AFTER ENTERING THE COUNTRY.

In order to get an official invitation (visa support) a student should to fill in Application and send it to the International Department: studmail@nilc.spb.ru

According to the given information the International Department requests that the Registration Office gives an invitation to a student of the Nevsky Institute. It takes at least one month to get an invitation.

The Institute sends the Invitation to the student by post. After receiving it the student requests a visa from the Embassy or the Council of the Russian Federation in his / her native country.

The student (entry) visa is registered in the Registration Office and is valid for the academic year. If the student passes the final course examinations s/he should extend his / her registration for the next year.

REGISTRATION

***** A foreign student must register within 3 days of arrival in Russia. Therefore all documents must be given to the Admission Officer of the International Department on the very next day after the arrival. (The student can be fined (1000 roubles and even more) for not giving all the necessary documents to get registration.

* If a student is a citizen of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belorussia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyztan, Moldavia, Uzbekistan and Ukraine s/he does not need a visa. Nevertheless the student must register at the Registration Office.

In order to register the student should give the International Department the following documents:

  • Passport
  • Migration Card
  • Visa
  • Insurance Policy (for the entire period of stay)
  • Certified HIV Antibody Test
  • 2 photos (similar passport-size)

* In addition to the documents mentioned above the students from the CIS should submit a train / plane ticket.

** In order to register from the place where the student lives s/he should fill out form 1 and form 9. The student also has to bring the copy of a marriage certificate (if the student lives with his / her wife / husband) and certified HIV Antibody test.

EXTENTION OF THE REGISTRATION

In case a foreign student arrives according to the ENTRY (STUDENT) visa and s/he wants to extent his/her visa, he/she should bring it to the International Department with the following documents:

  • Passport
  • an Extended Study Agreement
  • an Extended Homestay Agreement
  • Insurance Policy
  • Certified HIV Antibody Test

*** As the Russian Federation has new rules of arriving in the country and leaving the country, it is NOT POSSIBLE to extent a STUDENT Visa. If a student is going to stay in Russia for more than 3 months, s/he will have to get a MULTIPLE Visa.
