Language Courses

A-02.1 Term course. Pre-intermediate/intermediate level. The course length – 16 weeks. 16 academic hours per week (Grammar – 4h; Conversation – 4h; Phonetics – 4h; Analytical Reading – 4h). Amount of academic hours for the course - 256h.

A-02.2 Term course. Pre-intermediate/high intermediate level. The course length -16 weeks. 20 academic hours per week (Grammar – 4h; Conversation – 4h; Phonetics – 4h; Analytical Reading – 4h; Special Course – 4h). Amount of academic hours for the course - 320h.

Bg-01 Russian for Beginners. Duration - 4 weeks. The course is offered for 20 academic hours a week and consists of closely related parts: Pronunciation – 6h; Grammar – 10h; Conversation – 4h. These classes are designed to give a start in Russian to complete beginners. All the teaches can speak English. Amount of academic hours for the course – 80h.

El-01 Elementary Russian. Duration – 4 weeks. 16 academic hours a week. The course includes Pronunciation (4h a week), Grammar (6h a week), Conversation (6h a week). Amount of academic hours for the course – 64h.

El-02 Elementary Russian. Duration – 4 weeks. 20 academic hours a week. The course includes Pronunciation (4h a week), Grammar (8h a week), Conversation (8h a week). Amount of academic hours for the course – 80h.

P-In-01 Pre-Intermediate Russian. Duration –4 weeks. 16 academic hours a week. The course includes Phonetics (4h a week), Grammar (6h a week), Conversation (6h a week). Amount of academic hours for the course – 64h.

P-In-02 Pre-Intermediate Russian. Duration – 4 weeks. 20 academic hours a week. The course includes Phonetics (4h a week), Grammar (8h a week), Conversation (8h a week). Amount of academic hours for the course – 80h.

H-In-02 High-Intermediate/Advanced Russian. Duration – 6 weeks. 16/20 academic hours per week. The course includes Phonetics and Intonation (4h a week), Grammar (4h a week), Conversation + Video (4h a week), Analytical Reading and Stylistics (4h a week), one special course (4h a week) – upon request. Amount of academic hours for the course – 96/120h.

Adv-01 Advanced Russian. Duration – 6 weeks. 16/20 academic hours a week. The course includes Phonetics and Intonation (2h a week), Grammar (4h a week), Translation (4h a week), Conversation (6h a week), one special course (4h a week) – upon request. Amount of academic hours for the course – 96/120h.

Adv-02 Advanced Russian. Duration – 4 weeks. 16/20 academic hours a week. The course includes Phonetics and Intonation (2h a week), Grammar (4h a week), Translation (4h a week), Conversation (6h a week), one special course (4h a week) – upon request. Amount of academic hours for the course – 64/80h.

Adv-03 Advanced Russian – Intensive. Duration – 2 weeks. Amount of hours: 60 academic hours (30 hours per week; 6 hours per day). The course includes 20 hours of Translation; 20 hours of Grammar; 20 hours of Conversation.

Adv-Syn Advanced Syntax. The course is designed for students and graduate students who are majoring in Russian Language and Russian Literature. Amount of academic hours – 12/24. Available upon request.

In-Gram; Adv-Gram Grammar courses

In-Gram Grammar. Intermediate Russian. The course is designed for students who would like to improve their grammar. The course covers the main grammar topics of intermediate level. Amount of academic hours for the course – 16h.

Adv-Gram Grammar. Advanced Russian. The objectives of the course are the learning and training grammatical difficulties of Russian. Special attention is paid to the Russian verbal system: aspect and tense forms in functioning, verbs of motion with prefixes in direct and indirect meaning, position verbs with prefixes in indirect meaning and difficult cases of verb government. Amount of academic hours for the course – 12/24h.

In-Ph; Adv-Ph Courses in Phonetics

In-Ph Phonetics. Intermediate Russian. The course is designed for students who would like to improve their pronunciation. Amount of academic hours for the course – 16h.

Adv-Ph Phonetics. Advanced Russian. The course is designed for those who would like to get rid of the accent. The audio and video materials help the students to work on phonetics and intonation of spoken Russian Amount of academic hours for the course – 12/24h.

EL-Cnv; In-Cnv; Adv-Cnv Courses in Conversation

EL-Cnv Conversation. Elementary Russian. The course is designed for students who need to strengthen their speaking abilities. It covers everyday vocabulary and phrases for typical situations. Amount of academic hours – 16h.

In-Cnv Conversation. Intermediate Russian. The course is designed for students who would like to widen the emotional and abstract vocabulary in functional capacity, to strengthen the ability to held discussions in Russian. Amount of academic hours for the course – 12/24h.

Adv-Cnv Conversation. Advanced Russian. This course is specifically focused on the usage of everyday vocabulary and based on the use of the up-to-date audio and video materials. The audio and video materials help the students to work on phonetics and intonation of spoken Russian. Amount of academic hours for the course – 12/24h.

In-AnR; Adv-AnR Courses in Analytical Reading

In-AnR Analytical Reading. Intermediate Russian. The course is designed to introduce Russian Literature to the students, to extend their vocabulary. Students are offered a few units of texts of different periods and genres, united by one topic. Students are supposed to get acquainted and to read the texts beforehand. Reading of some extracts and analysis of the text are held by teacher’s guidance. Amount of academic hours for the course – 24/32h.

Adv-AnR Analytical Reading. Advanced Russian. The course is designed for students who are majoring in Russian Language and Russian Literature and would like to widen their vocabulary and to get acquainted with stylistic peculiarities of different texts. Amount of academic hours for the course – 24/32h.

Adv-Styl Stylistics. Advanced Russian. The course is designed for graduate students who are interested in stylistic peculiarities of different genres. Course can be divided into several parts: Style of Literature, Newspaper Writing, Official Style. Amount of academic hours for the course – 24/32/48h.

Adv-T Translation. Advanced Russian. Classes include translation from and into Russian. Special attention is paid to compound syntactical structures and colloquial patterns. Synchronous translation in the language laboratory is a required part of the course. Amount of academic hours – 24/32h.

P-01; P-02; P-03 Courses for Princeton University (USA)

P-01 Pre-Intermediate Russian. Duration – 8 weeks. Starting Dates – the first decade of June. The course includes Grammar, Conversation, Analytical Reading. 20 academic hours a week. Amount of academic hours for the course – 160h. The course is designed for students from Princeton University who covered 1 year of Russian at Princeton.

P-02 Intermediate Russian. Duration - 8 weeks. Starting Date – the last week of June. The program includes four courses: Grammar, Conversation, Analytical Reading, Video/Audio Course + One-to-one Classes according to student’s choice. One special course is available upon request. The course is designed for students from Princeton University who covered three years of Russian at Princeton.

E-01; E-02 Courses for Edinburgh University (UK) – July Program

E-01 Elementary Russian. Duration – 1 month. July 1 - July 31. The course includes Grammar (5 h a week), Conversation (6 h a week), Russian Culture (2 h a week), Educational outing (2h a week). 16 academic hours a week. Amount of academic hours for the course – 64 h. The course is designed for students from Edinburgh University who covered first year of Russian.

E-02 Pre-Intermediate Russian. Duration – 1 month. July 1 – July 31. The course includes Grammar (5 h a week), Conversation (6 h a week), Russian Culture (4 h a week). 16 academic hours a week. Amount of academic hours for the course – 64 h. The course is designed for students from Edinburgh University who covered second year of Russian.

C-01; C-02 Courses for Colorado College (USA)

C-01 Pre-Intermediate Russian. Duration – 3 weeks. April – May. The course includes Grammar (5h a week), Conversation (5h a week), Video Course (2h a week). Amount of academic hours – 36h. The course is designed for students from Colorado College who covered two blocks of Russian.

C-02 Intermediate Russian. Duration – 3 weeks. April – May. The course includes Grammar (5h a week), Conversation (5h a week) one academic course according to student’s choice with Russian students. Amount of academic hours - 30h. The course is designed for students from Colorado College who covered 3-4 blocks of Russian.
