The International Activity is one of the main priorities for Nevsky Institute of Language and Culture. The Institute has been an institutional member of the American Association for the Advancement of Slavic Studies (AAASS) since 1997 and since 1998 it has been taking part in the activity of the European Association of International Education (EAIE).

Each academic year about 200 foreign students study at the Nevsky Institute on various departments and programs. The international activity at the Institute is carried out by the Department for International Relations with Vice President for Foreign Affairs at the head of it.

There are various academic concentrations available through the International Department:

I. Academic term programs for foreign students (according to the Russian State Standard) in the following branches:

• Public Relations and Communication Techniques
• Linguistics and Linguistic Arts
• Economics and Finance
• Civilizations and Humanities 
• European Studies
• Information Technologies and Science

The Institute admits students from around the world. The Institute seeks students of good character who intend to study deeply and have a capacity for further growth. There is the career-guidance center permanently working at the Institute. Applicants may have consultations for their profession of choice and go through specific testing. Male students are given a postponement from military service.

The Russian State Standard of the Higher and Vacational Education demands a five-year (a specialist) or four year (a bakalavr) period of study.

II. Exchange Programs

The Institute has exchange agreements with the following universities around the world. Students of the Nevsky Institute may participate in these exchange programs on a competitive basis. Students at these institutions may be able to apply to come to the Nevsky Institute on exchange program for a semester or academic year.

III. Short Term Programs for Foreign Students

There are few Short term programs available for foreign students during the Summer. The programs may be individual and combined with other groups enrolled the same time.

IV. Russian Language Term Program

The Program of Russian as a Foreign Language is available year round. The levels of study range from the Beginner to the Advanced Level. Post-graduates can take a course of Teaching Russian as a Foreign Language.

V. Educational and Cultural Tours

Throughout the academic year, the Nevsky Institute receives groups of foreign students and arranges academic tours with excursions. The Institute offers the same Program for the full-time students from the Nevsky Institute.

VI. Short-Term Training at Foreign Language Schools and Universities

The International Department gives the opportunity to all students of the Nevsky Institute to have training courses at American and European Language Schools and Universities.

VII. Postgraduate Programs

There are scholarships for the Nevsky Institute Alumni majoring in Linguistics and Linguistic Arts. They may teach Russian as a Foreign Language at Colorado College (USA) and Bowdoin College (USA). Alumni receive scholarships to cover the cost of their round-trip tickets, room and board, in addition they receive a stipend.

VIII. Grant-Hound Program

The International Department provides information about international grants, as well as specialized advice on filling out grant forms for students and staff of the Nevsky Institute. You can obtain information on all types of grants: research, exchange, and travel support, etc.
